"What do you... oh!"
His eyes widened slightly, and he tried to force his expression into one of casual disinterest.
"Well, I'd rather you did that than killed me."

Sylar gave a quick glance back at the boy. "Usually that ends up with bodies buried in lime in the crawlspace, too. " he said, turning on the stove and setting the kettle on the burner. Turning more fully around, he gave Luke a long look. The kid wasn't hard on the eyes, he could admit it, but it wasn't usually the kind of thing he thought about.
Moving to the cabinet, Sylar opened it again and reached in, taking out a tall, plastic cup. Setting it on the tabletop, he moved closer to Luke again, as if he hadn't just shoved him up against the wall and threatened his life. Pointing to it, he tilted his head forward towards the other, "Show me."

He let out a hastily swallowed sigh of relief, pausing to flash the taller man a small grin before raising his arm and directing his palm at the cup.
His brow creased slightly with concentration, and the cup collapsed in on itself as it rapidly turned into an indistinguishable blob.

Luke was confusing, seemingly eager to please him, even though he had been an inch away from killing him. Maybe the kid was just desperate for attention and any sort would do. Whatever the case, Sylar turned and watched as the boy displayed his power yet again, the cup melting onto the table.
Turning from the table to the younger one, Sylar gave a crooked smile.

He smiled back, dusting his hands on his trousers.
"I can do bigger stuff too." he said excitedly, looking up at the taller man. "Or small stuff. Like heating food. I've learned to control it."
He shifted, clasping his hands in his lap and looking plaintively at the older man.
"Have you really killed people? Like, lots of people?"
He was curious now more than scared. It registered dimly in his mind that he should be freaked out at the very idea, but he wasn't.

It was somewhat impressive, that Luke could could control the power as well as he claimed he could. Sylar had met grown men and women unable to control their powers completely. It meant that Luke wasn't afraid of it, which Sylar grudgingly respected.
The question the younger one asked him didn't make him laugh or smile though. Instead the darker one cast his glance to the side a moment before looking back into the boys eyes. "They didn't deserve their abilities. So I took them." he said. Now that the cat was out of the bag, Sylar didn't hold back from admitting that maybe he had more than just telekinesis.

"Took them? And now you can use them?"
He cocked his head to one side, searching the man's expression. That would make him easily the most powerful guy in the world. This was incredible.
"How many? How do you do it?" he added quickly.
Had he been about to lose his own ability to this man? He didn't doubt the danger he'd been in, but he wanted to know more.

For some reason Sylar couldn't help but feel somewhat pleased at the kid was interested. He had always been a loner, really, so the chance to brag was a bit overwhelming. "Enough." he replied, declining to put a number on it.
Pushing himself up, the killer moved back over to the stove, taking the now heated water off the stove so that he could make himself some tea. "I know how things work." was all he said for a moment. But as he turned and took a sip from his mug, he shrugged, "I saw their heads open and figure out how they tick." he grinned disturbingly.

"You open people's heads?"
He was torn between disgust and fascination. He continued to watch the man with morbid curiosity, not finding it difficult to imagine him as a murderer. He had the right eyes, Luke decided. Creepily intense; he found it hard to look into them for long.
"Will you show me any of your other powers?" he asked with forced politeness, eager to see more.

Sylar huffed a little, not quite a laugh. He was being asked to show off. Obligingly, he lifted the hand not holding his cup and looked at it. With palm cupped and fingers curled, the older one pulled a tight ball of electricity into his hand, the power arching like tiny Jacob's Ladders between his fingers.
With a few steps he was close to Luke again, and reached out to give the boy a mild jolt on the arm. If Luke wanted to see them he could feel them, too.

Luke watched in wonder at the show of power, impressed at the flickers of electricity.
"Cool!"
When the man zapped him, he let out a small undignified squeak, jumping a little. He glared embarrassedly, folding his arms.

The sound, followed by the embarrassed glare the other shot him was enough to make Sylar chuckle. He'd never bothered much to just play with his abilities. "Too much?" he asked, lessening the wattage before reaching out and letting it crackle across Luke's cheek. It wasn't much more than static at that point, but it was fun to watch people flinch.

"I can take it." he retorted hotly, hating appearing weak.
He managed not to even flinch at the second zap, shooting the man a defiant look. It wasn't the first time anybody had hurt him, and he knew how to keep his body still and pretend he wasn't feeling anything at all. But it seemed like the other man wasn't punishing him as much as playing with him, and he wasn't sure how he felt about that.

Sylar really was only playing. If he had meant to punish then Luke wouldn't have been able to help but cry out. As it was, he smirked at the defiant streak in the kid. It made him want to illicit more of a response for some reason. "Can you?" he challenged, giving him another few flickering jolts along his jaw.

He twitched slightly, but kept his composure and managed to keep looking straight at Gabriel. It was important that he appear strong and together. Weak people were the ones that got hurt, that got left behind.
"You started yet?" he replied bravely, smiling up at him.
