Luke glanced at Sylar, trying to read his expression. He was trying now harder than ever to make Sylar approve of him, especially with potential competition. He hadn't expected to feel jealous, but he also hadn't expected any of the events that had befallen him lately, and instinct was the only thing he had to work from.
Luke's instinct told him not to trust anybody to do the right thing. He couldn't expect Sylar to stick around out of the goodness of his heart; he had to make him want to.

Elle stared at Gabriel when he pushed the kid forward. A spark lit up in her eyes. He only hesitated for a moment before following Luke - she didn't even know if it was hesitation or what, but it intrigued her.
Considering all that had gone down in the past... hour or two, she really didn't know if she should stay or go. Death threats (okay, not really, but close!), sincere invitations (well, as sincere as she was going to get from this block-head, anyway), power shows... She hesitated before sprinting forward toward Gabriel.
When she was side by side, she looked up at him (holy f-... crap, he's tall - why didn't she realize that earlier?). "Come on, now. You two are the most interesting things on this island." She glanced over and smiled at Luke, acknowledging that she wasn't just talking about Gabriel. "Besides that, after two invitations, you can't just walk away..." Elle hesitated. Technically, they could, she was just really really wishing they wouldn't.... "Right?" she half-grinned hopefully, looking up to meet the man's eyes.

Sylar could hear the girl coming up behind them after a moment of silence, and when she was beside him he looked down at her. She was even shorter than Luke. "The invitation was for you to come with us, so Yeah, we can walk away." he said, being a bit of a smart ass.
He wasn't thinking about Luke's jealousy...was not even realizing there was any there. He'd already staked his claim on the boy, and considered him now something closer to a possession than someone that needed encouragement and affection.
"It's up to you to accept it and follow." he added, looking her in the eye before turning forward again.

For a split second, Elle honestly considered shocking him and calling him an ass, but she let it go. He knew what she meant and that's all that mattered. She had a sneaking suspicion that Gabriel was always like this.
Elle nodded and shifted her eyes to the ground. She sighed heavily and glanced up at the trees. A random impulse took over her. The girl walked away from Gabriel to Luke's far side. A wide smile once again on her face. "You don't talk much do you...?" she was tempted to say 'bite-size' or 'pup', but decided against it. Instead, she grabbed onto his arm, clinging.

Luke blinked in surprise. That was funny, people often said he talked too much. But he guessed she could have got that impression so far. "Uh. Maybe not." was his smart response, looking warily at her. He didn't trust her to not shock him.

Sylar looked over when the girl changed tactics, going for Luke. With a small smirk he watched her take the boys arm and almost cling to him. He wouldn't stop her from shocking him, but would quickly draw the line if she hurt him too badly. Luke couldn't heal, and he had his own reasons for wanting the boy in one piece.
"Luke's just shy." he teased, turning his eyes to the younger ones face with a small, knowing grin.

The blond giggled loudly. Good reactions so far. She was half concerned she'd get thrown for being touchy feely, but it almost seemed like he didn't care. Maybe he was scared she'd shock him? Ahhh, yep. Luke's expression seemed to display to the world he was uncomfortable. Not a very trusting person.
"What do you have to be shy about?" she asked. "I'm not going to shock you if that's what you're afraid of." Elle squeezed onto his arm with both of her's, smiling. "Not hard at least." She pouted a bit in contemplation. "Maybe." She snickered and loosened one of her hands, bringing it up near his face and let the tips of her fingers crackle.

He flinched slightly, but caught himself. He could stand being shocked by Sylar, and this was very nearly the same. Whether due to personality or the nature of the ability, it felt different. He couldn't quite fathom how. "Cute trick. Bet I can do better."

"Cute?" she murmured, dropping her hand from his face, a disappointed look on her face. Elle couldn't remember the last time her ability was called cute. It felt awkward, she didn't like it.
Giving a small static shock out of the hand that was holding onto Luke's arm, she snickered. Elle batted her eyes and smiled coyly. "Show me," she chuckled, challenging. She remembered the red glow from his hands earlier. However, she'd put the thought away, concluding it was some sort of pyrokenisis and not delving any further. Now that he was offering to show her, she felt a little more curious than before.

He raised one eyebrow, but stepped away from Sylar, eager to show off. He rotated his arm in her grip, pulling until he could grasp her forearm loosely in one hand and concentrated on releasing a burst of power; as weak as if she'd leant her arm on a boiling hot pipe so as not to actuallly cause damage but hopefully showing her that he could do more. He watched the way her skin glowed red under his fingertips, fascinated.

"MOTHER F-" she bit her lip to keep herself from cursing. Involuntarily (or so she'd say if anyone asked), a large voltage attacked at the danger on her arm. She yanked it away and grabbed at her arm under the burn.
"Okay, I don't heal right away, this is gonna blister!" she said, glaring at the kid, hoping the electricity she'd "accidentally" released did some damage to his hand. "When I said 'show me', I didn't mean burn me!" she rambled rubbing at the damaged area to inspect. Okay, it wasn't that bad, but it hurt, and she had a low tolerance for pain. Especially burns.

Sylar paused as the two got into it, turning to look at them curiously. It was amusing to see them challenge each other, and he let out a snort when Luke let loose on her arm. Maybe they'd end up burning and electrifying each other into a stupor if he prompted it. But then he'd probably have to clean up the mess.
"Are we done here?" he asked lightly, not seemingly worried about the situation. They needed to work it out between themselves, like wolves or something.

"That wasn't bad. Geez, you're such a girl." he managed before shoving three of his fingers in his mouth to try and get rid of the feeling of charged skin, sucking the heated flesh. That had hurt. But the feeling of satisfaction far outstripped the pain; almost made it worth it. He felt as though he'd won that confrontation, and that made him proud. "We're done." he told Sylar sweetly, moving back to his side with a smug smile.

Sylar just chuckled, putting his arm around Luke's shoulders when he came to his side as though he was proud or something. He gave him a little squeeze, then looked to Elle and grinned. "If you want to play that way, we can save it for later." he teased, not caring how she took it. "Come on, before the bugs get worse."

Luke smiled delightedly, Sylar's attention now assuring him that he'd done something great. Okay, so all he'd really done was use his power on a (probably) physically weaker girl, but he felt like he'd just single-handedly conquered a kingdom or something. He was so happy that he managed to ignore what sounded like flirting to him, cuddling up to the man's side.
