"You want me to make friends so you can kill them?" It sounded worse out loud than it did in his head. He was already considering it. The others meant nothing to him, and it might be... fun.

"Sure. You slip in, get them to trust you, find out their powers, then tell me." He said, making use of Luke's youth and innocent looking face. "It'll be fun...like a game." He urged, leaning in closer. "I'm sure you could worm your way in, hm?" he teased, taking the other by the chin and tilting his face.

"I can do it." he said quickly and overconfidently, meeting the other man's eyes a moment.
He was pretty sure that he could make people like him if he really tried. The people on this island couldn't all be jaded outlaws or psychopaths. There was bound to be plenty of opportunities.

"Yeah, I bet you can." Sylar said, keeping his hold on the younger one and studying his face. It should have told him something that Luke was so willing to do this for him, that maybe the kid was even more messed up than he had been at that age.

He didn't squirm under such close scrutiny, but glanced sideways awkwardly after a few moments of looking the other man straight in the eye. "Like a game." he muttered under his breath, repeating what Gabriel had said earlier.

"You bring me powers, I won't take yours." Sylar said, dark thoughts again ticking away in his head. "It'll be fun." he said, grinning and tapping his thumb on the boys jaw. "But you've got to find good ones."

"I get it." He wasn't sure if Gabriel would take his power if he disagreed, but he kind of liked the idea of this. "What kind of power is a good power, then? Can you have too many powers? Like, if you have more than there's space for, do you lose some of the old ones?"

"I don't know. I've never seen it as a complication." He said about having too many powers. "You just find out what they are and I'll decide if I want them." Sylar smiled, releasing Luke and standing. Looking pleased with himself, he moved out of the room and into the bedroom, busying himself as though Luke was not actually still there.

Luke sat back on the couch, waiting for the other man to return. He wasn't going to follow Gabriel into his bedroom, that's for sure. He smiled slightly to himself; he'd been given a purpose. Gabriel needed his help. He didn't care if he was just being used, this was good.

Sylar knew that with Luke helping him it would be easier to pick over and choose the powers that he might like to have. It would also make him less a loner in appearance, if he had the boy keeping him company. Luke would be like camouflage, as long as he didn't do anything stupid like turn on him. He would have to work on keeping the kid interested in their arrangement, let him feel welcome and keep him close. To those ends, the older one moved back towards the doorway, looking into the living room where Luke was still sitting. "You can stay, if you want." he offered, hoping that would make the kid happy. Not that he really wanted him underfoot and hanging around, he just wanted him to develop a sense of loyalty to him.

Luke grinned with something like triumph. He knew the man would come round when he saw how helpful it could be to keep him around. Now, they could help each other. Luke was essentially a loner. He had never got along with the other kids, and never really saw the need to fit in. But now, he wanted to keep Gabriel as a friend, whatever it took.
"Yeah, okay."

Disappearing for a moment into the bedroom again, Sylar emerged into the living room and came to the couch, dumping a cover onto the boys lap. "On the couch." he said, because he wanted to keep him close, but not that close.

"Sure." he said obediently. He lay down, spreading the cover over himself. He wasn't scared that the man would kill him in his sleep. He'd had plenty of opportunities to do so while he'd been awake.

Giving the other a small nod, he looked down at him a moment before moving back to the door to his room. With a gesture of his hand the lightswitch across the room flicked off, and he went into the bedroom. Without a glance back to the other, he half closed the door and pulled off his shirt, getting ready for bed.

From the position at which Luke was lying, he had a perfect view through the ajar door. He watched through half closed eyes, peeking sneakily at Gabriel from between his eyelashes. It wasn't anything pervy, he told himself. Just curiosity.
